Cricket Wars

When it comes to cricket war in Subcontinent every trick in book needs to be played to have the last laugh. That's exactly what ICL is upto.
Around 2 months back when ICL announced it's arrival few would have counted them in the reckoning. The news of ICL seemed to be another media balloon waiting to burst any moment or forgotten in ignominy. But ICL team seems to have done good homework before playing its cards.

Lets sit back a moment and analyse the proceedings to understand the gravity of my statement above..

  • 1st the show of strength.. which showcased more than 40 top Ranji players alongside some international stars and officials having international reputation.

  • Then they played the card of political backing, when ruling party's honourable railway minister pledged railway grounds for ICL games.

  • With this came an expected backlash from BCCI throwing players out of BCCI for aligning with ICL. Also pushing employers of players to axe their employees for joining ICL.
ICL's answer was equally adept.. a Masterstroke public ligitation challenging "Threats given to players and stopping employers from axing players".
The answer I say it was a masterstroke because in one move it
    a) Got an expected reliever from court,
    b) Got court to look into "Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices" as BCCI is just another company as it itself has proclaimed so many times.
    MRTPC orders inquiry
    c) And even will make BCCI hand over grounds failing which they face MRTPC charges.

Now the ball is in BCCI's court and lets see what it comes up with this time around other than answers on the expected lines of ICL, for which am sure they already have an answer.
